Rand Holmes Gay Comix #1 Cover Original Art (Kitchen Sink Press, 1980). Rand Holmes had the honor of producing the cover for the historic first issue of Gay Comix. The anthology would run through two publishers for 11 years, and house the work of some amazing talent, such as: Howard Cruse, Lee Marrs, Roberta Gregory, Tim Barela, Trina Robbins, Allison Bechdel, Angela Bocage, and many more! This Rand Holmes cover perfectly set the tone for a book that was often very serious, very irreverent, and usually very tongue-in-cheek. This image shows that if you can't come out of the closet, just take the closet with you! Created in ink over blue pencil on illustration board with an image area of 11" x 16".
