Description
Peter Poplaski, Evert Geradts, Jay Lynch, and Denis Kitchen Weird Trips #3 Unpublished Cover Original Art (Kitchen Sink, 1978). The Weird Trips Underground anthology series ended after a bold second issue -- but a proposed third issue promised to be even more weird and trippy, to judge from this phantasmagorical but unfinished cover design, fully drawn in blue pencil and inked in phases by the various participating artists. Poplaski drew the basic facial foundation. Geradts added the devil/jackhammer imagery. Lynch added the nude figure. Kitchen added the pickaxe, the fish, and the bird-bug hybrid. A brilliant example, albeit incomplete, of the Underground Comix tradition of "jamming" on a mutually expressive composition. Ink over blue pencil on Bristol board, with an image area of 17" x 11.25". Some darkening, or toning, in the paste-up logotype. Very Good condition.From the Denis Kitchen Collection.
