Description

Paul Pope Batman: Year 100 #2 Unpublished Cover Original Art (DC, 2006). Paul Pope's vision of a dystopian Gotham in 2039 showcases a gritty, tactile aesthetic, brought to life through the prominent use of motorcycles and mechanical devices. These elements symbolize a defiant rebellion against the omnipresent surveillance state while highlighting Batman's reliance on raw, mechanical ingenuity over sleek digital technology. This unpublished cover features a furious Batman, strikingly similar to the final published version, his overflowing cape billowing as if to shield the symbolic mechanical engines, depicted here in a bold, abstract style. Masterfully crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 22.5" x 14.5". Smudging, whiteout corrections, and minor handling wear. Signed by Pope in the lower left of image area, and dated in the lower right corner. In Excellent condition.
