DescriptionNorman Mingo MAD #97 Cover Original Art (EC, 1965). You'll get a charge out of this rockin' cover art to the September, 1965 issue of MAD. What better way to illustrate that theme than with Alfred E. Neuman plugged into the stormy skies? "What, me climb a stairway to heaven?" Wacky stuff, from arguably the greatest MAD cover artist of them all, Norman Mingo. The art is in gouache on illustration board, with an image area of approximately 17" x 21.5", and the art is in Excellent condition. As witnessed by recent Heritage auctions, Mingo MAD covers are pretty much worth their weight in gold records these days, and it's not difficult to understand why-- especially if you were of garage band age back in swinging '65.
