DescriptionNorman Mingo Mad #75 Cover Original Art (EC, 1962). This special cover art to the December, 1962 issue of Mad was a particular favorite of kids for its theme: "Special Cutting Classes Issue". What better way to illustrate that theme than with a giant pair of scissors, and Alfred E. Neuman in "class", cutting out paper dolls? Wacky stuff, from arguably the greatest Mad cover artist of them all, Norman Mingo. The art is in gouache on illustration board, with an image area of approximately 16.75" x 23.25", and has been linen-matted to an overall size of 22.5" x 28.75". There has been some fading of the blue background color, but the piece remains in presentable and attractive Very Good condition. As witnessed by recent Heritage auctions, Mingo Mad covers are pretty much worth their weight in gold these days, and it's not difficult to understand why -- especially if you were of grade-school age back in '62!
