Description
Nick Cardy Superman #276 Cover Original Art (DC, 1974). Big Blue battles the Big Red Cheese! ....sort of! It's actually "Captain Thunder" and it's unclear why this was cover billed as "The Story You Thought We'd Never Dare Print!" as DC had been publishing Captain Marvel (and family) in Shazam! for a year at this point. Granted they had not crossed the Marvel Family into the main DCU yet, but that wouldn't take long. In the 1976 JLA/JSA team-up of Justice League of America #135-137 Supes and Cap would finally meet for real! And the cover for JLA #137 is very similar to this one.This thunderous cover was produced in ink over graphite on Sparta Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". All text, logo, and trade dressing are stat paste-ups. Lightly toned and in Very Good condition.
