    Description

Nick Cardy Batman #254 Cover Man-Bat Original Art (DC, 1974). From the iconic "100 Page Super Spectacular" banner to the iconic image of Man-Bat and Batman, this is a classic Bronze Age cover that is much beloved and well-remembered by fans! Also of note, in the lower right corner, we get a glimpse of Batman II and Robin II, the "Second Batman and Robin Team" featured in a reprint in this issue. The cover was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". All of the insets at the bottom are original art drawn on this board. The banner header, logo, and all cover text are stat paste-ups. Batman's left arm in the main image is an original art paste-up as well. There is a bit of slight discoloration on stats and some glue residue discoloration near them, with a small stain in the lower section as well. Overall in Very Good condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
