Description

Neal Adams - Superman #234 Cover Original Art (DC, 1971). Feast your eyes on a Bronze Age bombshell! Editor Julius Schwartz was charged with revamping Superman for seventies readers, just as he had done with the Flash, the Justice League of America, and the "new look" Batman during the Silver Age. Schwartz brought his ace team of writer Denny O'Neil and cover artist Neal Adams. This super-spectacular hails from the second issue of the run billed as "the Amazing New Adventures of Superman." 1971 spotlighted the fan-favorite "Sand Superman" story arc which ran through most of that year and this milestone, drawn for "How to Tame a Wild Volcano," was the first cover to showcase the "Sand Superman." The image area measures 10" x 15". The cover retained its original logo, masthead, and title type paste-ups, and is in Excellent condition.

I have done a preliminary analysis and the total of the hammer prices was $67,550. With BP, the final figure was $80,722.25. That is against the total insurance value of $34,785 or 2.32 x ‘pre-auction estimate’. Incredible, really, so a big thanks.
