Description

Neal Adams Detective Comics #404 Cover Original Art (DC, 1970). One of the all-time greats, Neal Adams, pays homage to another all-time great, Joe Kubert! A Batman cover by the late, great, Neal Adams is a must for any serious comic art collector. The Will Eisner Comic Book and Jack Kirby Hall of Famer ushered in a dynamic photorealistic style of illustration that revolutionized comic book art for the modern era. An extra bit of trivia -- the final panel of this story notes that it was "A Tribute to the Great Joe Kubert and Robert Kanigher", the co-creators of Enemy Ace, who debuted in Our Army at War #151 in February 1965.
The art was produced in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15" (including the title logo stat paste-ups). There is mild toning, marginal production notes and tape, and corner and edge wear. The title stat is coming loose in the area to the right of Batgirl, the bottom story title word bubble is a stat paste-up, there are small spots of production blue pencil and whiteout, and there is adhesive staining as well as corner bends. In Very Good condition. Includes the hand-colored color guide and printer's proof.
