    Description

Murphy Anderson Jumbo Comics #10 Cover Re-Creation Original Art (c. 1990s). Anderson, a fine all-around artist, is widely considered the most sympathetically effective inker in 20th-century comics. Here, Anderson pays homage to a mentor, Lou Fine, with this accurate replica of a Fine cover from Fiction House's pioneering title (Jumbo was a variety book -- encompassing horror, SF, jungle adventure, and crime yarns). Though substantially complete, this remake contains some unfinished elements, including lettering left partially un-inked, and un-erased lettering guidelines. Then, too, Anderson usually painted his re-creations in textured watercolors; this page is wholly in ink. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 15" x 20.5". Excellent condition. From the Murphy Anderson Collection.
