Description

Mike Grell Batman #289 Cover Original Art (DC, 1977). A great layout for the cover of the story "Sign of the Skull". And what a skull it is too! The entire upper portion of Skull Dugger's face (from the cheek bones up) are an original art paste-up. The rest of the cover is original art on the board itself. Created in ink over graphite on Sparta Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The cover caption box in the lower right is the original stat paste-up. There are slits into (but not completely through) the board in the top section where the Batman logo (missing) was trimmed in place. There is paste-up residue and discoloration in the top section, and the board shows some signs of frame burn from a previous matting job. In Very Good condition.
