DescriptionMichael Whelan - "Dragonsbane" Paperback Cover Painting Original Art (Del Rey, 1985). Famous for his images of dragons for paperback covers, Michael Whelan is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated science fiction/fantasy artists in history, with fourteen Hugo World Science Fiction and three Howard World Fantasy Awards to his name. This cover scene graced the cover of Barbara Hambly's novel Dragonsbane. In this yarn, "John Aversin was his people's only hope. Though nearsighted and mudspattered, more yokel than knight, he was the only living man to ever slay a dragon." The art is framed to an overall size of 21" x 33", and in Excellent condition.
