Description

Michael Lark Scene of the Crime #2 Cover Original Art (DC Comics, 1999). Lark's harrowing cover design heralds a hard-boiled yarn of classical pulp-fiction ferocity. Where the fully colored published version might suggest a painting, this authentic original is pure old-school pen-and-ink and proud of it. The absence of the title logotype (which was added in the production stages) enhances the resemblance to a Depression-era pulp such as Black Mask or Dime Detective. Lark's after-the-fact signature appears at lower left, in an area where the story title would go. Ink over graphite on Bristol board. Image area, 10" x 15". Light scattered staining. One marginal moisture wrinkle. Excellent condition.
