Description

Mark Bagley and John Romita Sr. Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #22 Cover Original Art (Overstreet, 1992). The ultimate two-generation Spider-Man team-up! Mark Bagley, one of the defining modern Spidey artists, joins forces with classic stylist John Romita Sr. for this starlit showdown between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin over the Manhattan skyline. Romita Sr., the "second foundational" Spider-Man artist, took the reins from Steve Ditko with The Amazing Spider-Man #39 and reshaped the character's world with the glamorous clarity, expressive acting, and soap-operatic energy that became Marvel's mainstream look. Bagley picked up that mantle decades later, beginning his ASM run in 1991 and helping define the sleek, muscular, high-octane Spider-Man look for a generation of fans during the '90s boom. This rare collaboration, one of only a handful the two ever produced, became the cover of the Overstreet Price Guide at a moment when comic collecting was exploding. For many fans, this was the first Overstreet they ever owned, and what a pair of Spider-legends to greet them. Created in mixed media and Plexiglas-front framed to 27" x 26.5". Signed "Bagley + Romita" in the center left of the 12.5" x 19" matted image area. Presents in Excellent condition. A tear sheet of the published cover is matted beside the original art.
