Description
Marie Severin, Frank Giacoia, and John Romita Sr. Captain America #132 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1970). Bucky is seemingly back from the grave for the tale "The Fearful Secret of Bucky Barnes!" A striking cover from the ever-talented Marie Severin, it was originally created in graphite and blue pencil on Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15", which Frank Giacoia would ink. John Romita Sr., as Marvel's Art Director, is said to have done some art alterations on this cover. There is whiteout inked correction on Bucky's right arm and up through the boulder. There is also a separate section of original art correction that is inked. It was fitted over the MODOK figure in the bottom left of the image area. It seems it was held in place with the paste-up story title banner, and it was not affixed itself. As a result, now that it is loose, you can see Marie Severin's original blue pencil and graphite work beneath, with no stains. Gorgeous work, with a great Jack Kirby vibe to it. There is glue residue on the right where the banner was affixed, and on the separate section as well. Also there is glue residue for Bucky's missing word balloon just under the logo. The corner box, issue/price box, and logo are all stat paste-ups. There is a bit of production oil stain in the side and margins, and some tape holding on the logo.
