Description

Marie Severin and Bill Everett Iron Man Special #1 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1970). Shellhead's first oversized special has him facing both the Titanium Man and the Sub-Mariner! A bit of poetic license was taken here, as Iron Man had faced the villains in two separate stories in the annual. But who better to draw the Sub-Mariner than Everett, who had created the character some three decades earlier. Rendered in ink over graphite on cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". Slight toning, logo, header, spine, and text paste-ups, with some being held on by tape, and with the bottom text box ("Featuring a fabulous foursome of the Golden Avenger's mightiest free-for-alls!") missing. The Iron Man helmet in the corner box is a modern low-res stat replacement. Marginal notes and oil/residue staining, with edge and handling wear. Signed by the art team (as "7EV") and by Severin in the lower left image area. In Very Good condition.
