Description

Lee Elias Tomb of Terror #16 Cover Original Art (Harvey, 1954). Here in our Platinum Session of this auction we offer another mind-blowing Lee Elias horror cover for its very first time at public auction! This horrific and striking cover is a classic piece of comic history! Elias produced many amazing horror covers and stories for Harvey Comics during the 1950s (both pre-Code and after). This cover for the last issue of Tomb of Terror is a masterpiece, and the art was further augmented by fantastic color work on the published cover. The black and white linework was created in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 10.5" x 15.25". The board has been slit around the man's left hand and the woman's head to allow the stat paste-up logo to slide behind them. Toned and in Very Good condition.
