Description

Lee Elias Tomb of Terror #13 Cover Original Art (Harvey Comics, 1954). An explosive image heralds a special "Tales in the World of Tomorrow" issue with a science-fictional emphasis -- fairly late in the pre-Comics Code era, before that agency of institutionalized censorship could affect the industry as a class. The cosmic nightmare thus depicted foreshadows Elias' transition from an identification with horror into a greater post-Code prominence as a favorite SF artist. Ink over graphite on illustration board, with painted white highlights. Image area, 11" x 15.5". The title logotype is a professionally rendered replacement, and compatible ink lines have been extended into the logo area for a fuller image integration. Excellent condition.
