DescriptionLee Elias - Original Cover Art for War Battles #9 (Harvey, 1953). A jeep on a death ride, and two servicemen making mincemeat out of the enemy is the subject of this turbulent cover from 1953. From the final issue of Harvey Comics', War Battles, comes this piercing cover penciled and inked by Lee Elias. A formidable display of brutal bloodshed, told by an artist capable of rendering this violent moment in memorable style. Elias' use of brush and ink accurately conveys this savage scenario with gusto. The art has an overall size of 12.75" x 17" with a 10" x 15.25" image area. The work is very clear, with the exception of some overall aging, and some stains at the top around the logo and some missing paste-ups. Includes the original logo and type paste-ups.
