DescriptionLarry Rippee Dirty Girdie's Comix #3 Cover Original Art (White Tower Productions, 1969). Rippee (aka "Ripp") broke through to the Underground Comix movement via Dirty Girdie's Comix, a tabloid that was among the earlier titles carried by Gary Arlington's trailblazing San Francisco Comic Book Company -- likely the first comics-specialty store, and one of the earliest Underground publishers. This lively SF spoof benefits from a crisp pen line and the application of varied textures of shading film, including a seldom-seen herringbone pattern. Artists also bylined here include Hector Tellez and Greg Dominici. and white paint over graphite on Bristol board, with Zipatone shading. Image area, 9.5" x 12.5". Pronounced toning and adhesive staining. Staining and peeling on reverse. Good condition. From the Eric Sack Collection.
