Description

Larry Lieber - Original Cover Art for Rawhide Kid #66 (Marvel, 1968). This is an outstanding western cover that's penciled, inked, and nicely zip-a-toned by Larry Lieber. Mourners stand at a graveside service on Boot Hill in the foreground, but the page is dominated by an intensely dramatic image of Rawhide getting shot by a foe who's unseen except for his hand and six-shooter. Is this scene of the Kid's defeat also the moment of his demise, and the reason for the solemn funeral? What western fan wouldn't pay twelve cents to find the answers in "Death of a Gunfighter!" Lieber, long experienced in drawing western action, finds his groove in this explosive cover. The image is 10" x 15" on an 11.5" by 17.5" page that is signed by Lieber in the bottom margin. There is some yellowing around the logo. From the personal collection of Larry Lieber.
