Description

L. B. Cole Maggots Unused Cover Design Original Art (Bruce Hamilton Comics, c. 1991-1992). L. B. Cole's career as a comic book artist started in the early 1940s. He is primarily remembered for his stunning covers from the Golden Age. In the 1960s, a whole new crop of comic book fans discovered his work, further amping his popularity. He provided the cover for The Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide #11 in 1981, and also was doing commission recreations of many of his own original covers. Sadly, he passed away in 1995. So this piece from approximately 1991 is likely one of the last few things he drew. It was a cover design for an issue of Maggots that featured the horror host MadRaven. It was created in ink and mixed media on 4" x 5.5" art paper, and is signed in the lower edge. In Excellent condition, and comes with a COA.
