Description

L. B. Cole Dick Tracy Adventures Magazine #1 Cover Original Art (Gladstone/Hamilton Publ., 1991). Until the new century's comprehensive and chronological reprinting of Dick Tracy by Dean Mullaney's Library of American Comics and IDW Publ., Chester Gould's masterpiece of crime-comics storytelling had seen only sporadic revivals - usually out-of-sequence, and often censored to mute the violence. Gladstone's ambitious Dick Tracy Adventures splashed big but soon faded. Cole was a fine choice to handle the cover - a first-generation comics talent who specialized in crime-and-horror titles over the long term. Tracy squares off here against Littleface Finny, a classic Gould villain from 1941. Mixed media on textured board. Image area, 8.25" x 11.5". Excellent condition. Packaged with a reading copy of the book as published.
