Description

Klaus Janson The Punisher #4 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1987). Frank Castle takes a shot in the back on this punishing cover rendered in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Of note, this was the issue that introduced the Punisher's buddy, Microchip. Signed and dated by Janson in the middle of the left side. The corner box and logo are stat paste-ups. The "BLAM!" sound effect is a hand-lettered trimmed paste-up. Much of the lines in the top portion of the cover (especially on the top left) are created with a "scratch technique" whereupon the artist literally scratched the surface of the board to create breaks in the inked portions. This has cause some of the scratched lines to discolor from contact with the paste-ups glue. Overall the cover is in Very Good condition.
