Description
Jose Gonzalez (as Pepe Gonzalez) Vampirella #19 Cover Recreation Original Art (2000). Jose Gonzalez re-creates the central image from a classic cover. It's a painting he himself had originally produced. The pose is based on a piece of art used in Vampirella subscription ads before this, but his image is wholly Gonzalez from that expression down to the toes. It was such a popular image it was shortly after released as a life-size door poster. This re-creation was rendered in graphite, color pencil, and watercolor on 27.5" x 39" Bristol board. Vampirella stands 35.5" tall. Signed and dated in the image area. The board has been stored rolled in a tube, so it is curled. Slight crease in top left corner, tack holes in all four corners.
