DescriptionJohnny Craig War Against Crime #10 Cover Original Art (EC, 1949-50). This cover features the very first mention of "The Vault of Horror," a title that would become the series name in just two issues. This issue also contains the very first Vault of Horror story which introduced the Vault Keeper story host. The artist, Johnny Craig, would go on to be the chief artist and writer for the series handling nearly all of the lead stories as well as the art on all of the covers. An amazing piece of comic book history, this cover sports all of the original paste-up trade dressing complete and intact! Rarely do we get a cover as old as this and in this pristine condition. It's a beaut for sure. Ink over graphite (with red ink highlights for printing) on Bristol board, with an image area of 13.5" x 19". Slight tanning, more so on the edges. There is a crease, noticeable only when examining the back of the art, that extends from the right edge near the diploma to the area between the main characters' heads. Otherwise in Excellent condition.
