DescriptionJohnny Craig - Crime Patrol #8 Cover Original Art (EC, 1948). When it came to writing and drawing crime noir thrillers, Johnny Craig was one of the all-time greats. Indeed, the end-credits for the recent crime film, "Sin City," displayed a dedication to Johnny Craig. EC historian Bill Mason wrote, in The Complete EC Library, "Issues 8 and 9 have the first of Craig's 'black' covers, as yet unleavened by humor or irony and with the title dropped over the film-noir illustrations. Crime Patrol #8's prison-yard scene, with its nondescript new arrivals and faceless cops, is especially grim and effective." The image area of this hard-hitting cover measures 13.5" x 19". Aside from a missing caption box at the center (which read "Real Stories From Police Records"), and a missing EC logo stat, the art is in Excellent condition.
