John Severin Where Monsters Dwell #15 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1972). "You want me to draw a -- whaat?" Severin asked when Stan Lee handed him this assignment. "A KRAA," said Stan the Man. "K-R-A-A. Kraa the Unhuman." "Isn't that more Jack Kirby's bag?" replied Severin. "Oh, he's already drawn Kraa," said Stan -- "'way back in '61." "Well," said Severin, "as long as I have a model to go by..." And that's how the master realist, Severin, came to resurrect a monster created by the master un-realist, Kirby. The Severin version graced a magazine containing reprints from the pre-Fantastic Four Marvel studio -- hastily assembled to flood the market with new titles that would require no new-story investments. Severin's cover, here, is a wonder to behold. Ink over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 15". Very Good condition, with uneven age-toning and paste-up seams.
