Description

John Severin Monsters On The Prowl #15 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1972). "The Thing Called... IT!" not only nabbed the cover image, but Heinrich Munch's animated construct was also the lead feature story in this issue. A bit of various swamp-monster comic characters, Frankenstein's monster, and the Golem, the gimmick this time was that the monster was more noble than the creator. Note that there is no Zipatone on this cover. All of those tiny hatch marks were hand-drawn by comic art legend John Severin, whose career touched EC Comics, Cracked magazine, and who was one of the work-horse creators of Marvel's Western titles and its Silver and Bronze Ages. This cover is signed in the lower left corner, and produced in ink on illustration board with a Bristol board frame for the logo and title, to create an image area of 10" x 15". There is a rip in the Bristol frame on the left side, and some paste-up glue residue. The image area is in Excellent condition.
