DescriptionJohn Severin Cracked #24 Cover Original Art (Major Publications, 1962). John Severin was not the first to draw Sylvester P. Smythe, but he was the artist who refined his look to the cute nebbish that we all know and avoid, er... love. This piece of artwork has an interesting history. It first appeared on the cover of issue #24 in its original form. But as Major Publications was notorious for re-using artwork instead of commissioning new art, this piece was just slightly touched-up and repainted over the years, as it appeared in Cracked Shut-Ups #1 (1972); Cracked Collectors Edition #37 (1980); Cracked Giant #37 (1983); Cracked Biggest Greatest #21 (1986); and then Cracked Collectors Edition #67 and 77 (1986/89). There was even a variation on this piece that appeared on Cracked Super #5 (1972) and Cracked Party Pack #3 (1989). This well-used piece is painted (and re-painted) in acrylics on 13.5" x 19" illustration board. There is production tape, pinholes, and slight corner damage. Overall in Very Good condition. From the Cracked Vault Collection.
