DescriptionJohn Severin Cracked #129 Cover Painting Original Art (Major Publications, 1975). Now here's a cover you can really sink your teeth into! Sylvester P. Smythe, longtime nebbish and mascot for Cracked Mazagine, is about to feed the fishes... or at least one big one. Produced by the legendary John Severin, this painting, originally for a parody of the movie Jaws, was produced in watercolor and white paint over graphite on illustration board with an image area of 14.5" x 18". It was also used on the covers of King-Sized Cracked #12 (1978), and Cracked Collector's Edition #55 (1983) and 71 (1987). For the cover of Cracked Collector's Edition #55, the cover was altered into the state it is now. A large white paper mask was cut and placed over the top portion of the original painting, covering up the shark tail in the background. There is glue residue and foxing, most especially on the paper masking. Overall in Good condition. From the Cracked Vault Collection.
