DescriptionJohn Romita Sr. The Amazing Spider-Man Doctor Octopus on the Loose in Dallas/Sanger-Harris Promotional Comic Cover Original Art (Marvel, c. 1979). An exceptional image from the legendary John Romita, this was the cover for a Dallas Times Herald newspaper advertising supplement, which we believe to be unpublished, featuring Spider-Man and Doc Ock. If this were a comic book cover from the same era, it would easily sell in the $5-10K range, and even given its nature as advertising art, it is still an absolutely dynamic and classic image of two of Marvel's greatest characters. Most of Romita's Spidey Super Stories covers from this era were done on vellum, and a great aspect of this cover is that it is rendered on white art board, which always makes for a nicer presentation. This piece, which measures 9.75" x 15", is very clean, with minimal white-out, and is in Excellent condition. Signed by John Romita Sr. in the lower border.
