Description

John Romita Sr. The Amazing Spider-Man #91 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1970). Spidey's web of luck has spun out! Immediately following Captain George Stacy's death in the previous issue, Spider-Man's reputation has taken a bigger hit than ever, and Peter Parker is starting to feel like nobody is truly in his corner. Romita brings out the entire supporting cast for this exceptional cover, featuring J. Jonah Jameson, Robbie Robertson, Gwen Stacy, Aunt May, Mary Jane Watson, and Harry Osborn! The gang looks on as Spidey, illuminated by the Spider-Signal on the wall behind him, feels the weight of their judgment and questions how it will impact his relationships with them as Peter. A terrific Bronze Age cover by the inimitable John Romita Sr. for the story "To Smash a Spider!", rendered in ink over graphite on cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The piece is toned, with whiteout corrections, staining from adhesive and oil, tape reinforcing some paste-ups, marginal pinholes, a horizontal fold line across the lower margin, spots of paper abrasion on the reverse resulting in weak spots, and handling wear. Additionally, stat paste-ups were used for the title, text, and trade dress, with Spidey's lower text balloon missing ("I've no place to turn! The whole city's against me!"). Signed in the lower image area by John Romita Sr. and in Good condition.
