Description
John Romita Sr., Mike Esposito, and Tony Mortellaro The Amazing Spider-Man #125 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1973). This was just the second appearance of the Man-Wolf! Of the new group of Spider-Man villains that came along in the 1970s, Man-Wolf may well have been the most memorable and menacing. Of course, the beast's alter ego is none other than John Jameson, son of Jonah, and the lady in distress here is none other than Jameson's own fiancée! Spider-Man saw his own girlfriend Gwen Stacy die at the hands of a supervillain just five issues earlier in the classic #121, and Marvel made sure he mentioned that fact on this dramatic cover. As a side note, background inker Mortellaro managed to slip in a little signature: the sign in the background doesn't advertise a motel. but a "Mortel"!The art has an image area of 10" x 15" and it includes its original logo and masthead paste-up copy. Some light soiling, and production process staining along the extreme edges; otherwise the work is in Very Good condition.More information about John Romita Sr..
