DescriptionJohn Liney - Henry #16 Cover Original Art (Dell, 1950). Carl Anderson's popular pantomime comic strip character was also the star of a long-running series of comic books published from 1948 to 1961, after a couple of Four Color one-shot try-outs. Anderson, already in his seventies when he created the character in 1932, retired in 1942 and handed over the Henry daily strip his assistant, John J. Liney. Although the strip and book continued to carry Anderson's by-line long after his death in 1948, Liney was the artist on all the Dell Henry comic books, including this cover illustration. Drawn in pencil and india ink on a 14" x 19" piece of bristol board, the piece has an image area of 8" x 11.5" and is in Very Good condition. A copy of Henry #16 accompanies this lot.
