John Byrne - Sensational She-Hulk #8 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1989). One of the most far-out series Marvel ever published was John Byrne's "postmodern" take on the She-Hulk! This cover graced the last issue of Byrne's initial run as writer, penciler, and inker of the series (though he would return to the title a couple of years later). The unique thing about this series was that the She-Hulk knew that she was a character in a comic book! She'd comment on the artists and writers who created her, she realized that the fastest way to get across town was by simply stepping into the next panel, and she always knew how many pages she had left to defeat the villain! A case in point is this cover: the She-Hulk's not talking to a character, she's questioning Byrne himself, wondering what the deal is with her guest star Nick St. Christopher (who turns out to be that St. Nick in the issue). That kicked off a nutty story that saw the She-Hulk getting help from an overweight, middle-aged Blonde Phantom, and even daydreaming about locking lips with Hercules! John Byrne fans will love the humorous touch in this cover, complete with one of his typically detailed backgrounds. The UPC box has a penciled note to editor Bobbie Chase. The image area of the cover measures 9.5" x 15". The title logo and the She-Hulk's word balloon are pasted-on elements; otherwise the art is in Excellent condition.
