Description
John Byrne and Tom Palmer Marvel Team-Up #70 Cover Spider-Man and Thor Original Art (Marvel, 1978). In the summer of 1978, John Byrne was burnin' it up over on the X-Men. An exciting image from Byrne's heyday era, this was also a rare Thor image, as Byrne had not drawn Thor very often before this issue. This cover also has an X-Men connection, as the villain is the Living Monolith, who first appeared in X-Men #54, where he had tapped Havok as a power source. The cover was crafted in ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The corner box, all logos, the header bar, and all cover text are stat paste-ups. There is a slit in the board around Spider-Man to allow the logo to slide behind him (taped from the reverse), and there are multiple production oil stains in the image area and margins.
