Description

John Byrne Alpha Flight #24 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1985). John Byrne is recognized for his large body of work, ranging from X-Men to Fantastic Four to Superman... but one of his most underrated, yet beloved, runs was on Alpha Flight. Launching the series in 1983, Byrne handled the writer/penciler duties for over two years. To this day, Byrne's original art from the series is hard to find, and in great demand. This is only the second cover Heritage has offered from that epic run, and we are also thrilled to be offering the complete story from this special issue in this auction. The Canadian mutant superteam find themselves in the Realm of the Great Beasts on this cover, as they search for the soul of Walter Langkowski (formerly Sasquatch). Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Slight toning, stat logo, taped header and text paste-ups, staple holes and tape abrasion in the top margin, marginal notes, with light staining and handling wear. Signed by Byrne along the lower left edge and by Stan Lee in the bottom margin. In Very Good condition.
