John Buscema and Tom Palmer The Avengers #78 Cover Man-Ape Original Art (Marvel, 1970). Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver, Goliath (Clint Barton), and Vision are stunned to see Man-Ape (M'Baku) raise the beaten bodies of Captain America and Black Panther in victory on this powerful cover. Buscema perfectly captures the shocking scene with Palmer's expert embellishments in ink and screentone over graphite on cover stock Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15", matted and glass-front framed to 19.5" x 25.5". The cover elements are separate paste-up pieces adhered to a support board. Whiteout touch-ups, with light staining and handling wear.
