Description

John Buscema and Joe Rubinstein Conan the Barbarian #112 Cover Original Art (Marvel, 1980). Conan needs no disguise -- his reputation arrives before him. The Cimmerian stands front and center in a commanding pose, enough to rattle the dwarf-men waiting in his path, as he leads the bear-clad Aesir warriors into the hidden city of Buryat beneath a cold, full moon. It's a cover that roars with momentum, courtesy of Marvel master John Buscema, fronting the climactic final chapter, "Buryat Besieged!", from Roy Thomas' adaptation of Norvell W. Page's Sons of the Bear God. Ink over graphite on Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". Toning, with smudging/soiling, minor staining, cover blurb paste-up, stat logo/trade dressing, whiteout touch-ups/highlights, marginal pinholes, and minor handling wear. Signed by the artists in the lower-left image area; additionally signed by writer/editor Roy Thomas in the top margin, by Rubinstein twice in the top and bottom margins, and Marvel's Editor-in-Chief Jim Shooter in the bottom margin. In Very Good condition.
