Description

Joe Kubert Showcase #84 Cover Nightmaster Original Art (DC, 1969). Showcase was DC's tryout book in the late 1960s, and it allowed them to toss out ideas and see what sparked some fan-interest. Nightmaster was a fascinating character, but never spun-out into his own title. In fact, he wasn't heard from again after this third Showcase appearance for over two decades! His "Sword of Night" did make an appearance in the short-lived Constantine TV Series. This exciting Kubert cover was for the Denny O'Neil story "Come Darkness, Come Death!" It was rendered in ink over graphite on Sparta Bristol board with an image area of 10" x 15". The DC bullet, logo, and sidebar are all printed paste-ups. The month/issue number paste-ups (below the CCA stamp) are missing, leaving a bit of glue residue. The art is signed by Kubert in the lower left side. Toned and in Very Good condition.
