Jim Steranko Creatures On the Loose #21 Gullivar Jones, Warrior of Mars Cover Original Art (Marvel Comics, 1973). More than any other comics creator, the art stylings of Steranko conjure up cutting-edge noir imagery, cinematic storytelling, and narrative experimentation. His most celebrated comic book work was done for Marvel Comics, where he drew lasting acclaim for his innovations in sequential art in the Silver Age of comic books. Steranko infused surrealism into the medium. This Bronze Age blockbuster from 1973 actually rivals Frank Frazetta's famous cover for Conan the Adventurer with its sword and sorcery savagery. This show-stopping scene perfectly aligns its design with the battle-tested emotion -- a Steranko hallmark. This cover should certainly appeal to any fan of Steranko, whose entrance into the world of comics heralded new ways of telling a story, dynamic new designs in illustration and layout, and paved the way for more ambitious formats. This large-sized Marvel masterwork has an image area of 13.5" x 20", and the piece has been matted and framed to an overall size of 19" x 25."
