    Description

Jim Starlin DC Comics Presents #26 Cover Superman and Green Lantern Original Art, with Color Separations and Comic Group of 5 (DC, 1980). Jim Starlin produced this cover that is well-remembered by fans as this issue also gave us our first view of Marv Wolfman and George Pérez' New Teen Titans. The cover is in two parts, as it includes the oft-overlooked background art which was printed in red and yellow behind Superman and Green Lantern. It seems while he was working on this cover, Jim Starlin was also experimenting with some dip-dye techniques to treat boards and give them a trippy background. One of those boards is included also. As a bonus, there are the plastic four-color color seps and a copy of the actual comic book. The main cover art is comprised almost entirely of stat paste-ups on Sparta Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". There is a 1.25" x 2" section that is hand-drawn. It is hand-initialed as "JPS" by Jim Starlin, next to the Superman figure. The original art included in this lot is the background with the alien face created edge-to-edge in mixed media on 11" x 17" Bristol board. Everything is in Very Good condition. The comic book is in Fine condition, and the Overstreet 2019 FN 6.0 value = $27. From the Key Comics Collection.

More Information: EDIT: Added notation that the all-stat production cover is initialed as "JPS" by Jim Starlin.
