    Description

Jim Starlin and Joe Sinnott Marvel's Greatest Comics #39 Cover Fantastic Four and Black Panther Original Art (Marvel, 1972). One of Jim Starlin's first Marvel covers! Starlin's first four covers all hit the newsstands in a two-week period and this is one of them. It's an all-new cover for the reprinted Marvel Key that introduced the Black Panther! There just aren't many Marvel Age origins bigger! This issue reprinted the story from Fantastic Four #52 and the all-new cover is completely different from the original cover. It's wonderfully compelling in its own right, as it shows the Black Panther testing the powers of Marvel's "First Family". The new cover was created in ink over graphite on 10" x 10" Bristol board affixed to a regular sized sheet of board with an image area of 10" x 15". Signed by Joe Sinnott in the lower margin. The header, logo, and lower caption box are all stat paste-ups. There are some minor stains and glue residue in the margins of the toned board. In Excellent condition.
