Jim Aparo Brave and the Bold #199 Cover Spectre Original Art (DC, 1983). The Spectre, with death in his eyes, looms over Batman and a fleeing couple for this, the penultimate cover for this beloved and long-running series. Usually a team-up book, the cover bills this one as "Batman versus the Spectre". The ghostly image was created in ink over graphite on DC/Sparta Bristol board with an image area of 9.75" x 15". The DC bullet, price/issue box, and all logos are paste-up stats. The "versus" and "And the Winner is..." paste-ups appear to be modern-day replacements, as they are much whiter than the vintage 1983 stats. Signed "JA" in the art and signed by Aparo in the UPC box. There is a bit of production tape by the CCA stamp paste-up. In Excellent condition. Comes with a copy of the printed comic.
