Description

Jean Giraud (Moebius) Totem Comic #41 Cover Dune, Arrakis Original Art (Editorial Nueva Frontera, 1981). Recently revived by Denis Villeneuve, Frank Herbert's iconic masterpiece Dune continues to leave a lasting impression. As early as 1975, Jodorowsky embarked on adapting this cult science fiction novel, enlisting several major artists of the time, including Moebius, H. R. Giger, and Chris Foss, to contribute to the project's visuals. This significant original artwork, also known as The Sword, has withstood the test of time, gracing the cover of Totem magazine #41, appearing as the visual for postcard #30 in the Humano series published around 1983, and featured on page 96 of the 2018 edition of Chroniques Métalliques et Chaos. It also served as inspiration for Denis Villeneuve's Dune films, particularly in the portrayal of the character Chani, played by Zendaya in 2021 and 2024. Color ink (Ecoline) on thick board with an image area of 6.25" x 8". Note pinholes in corners. Colors are a bit faded. In Very Good condition.
