Jean-Claude Mézières Valérian et Laureline: L'Intégrale #6 Cover Preliminary Original Art (Dargaud, 2012). Jean-Claude Mézières co-created the characters Valerian and Laureline in 1967 for the Franco-Belgian comic Valérian and Laureline, published by Dargaud. His work helped redefine the visual and narrative codes of space opera in both comics and cinema, going on to influence the likes of Star Wars, The Fifth Element, and generations of sci-fi artists. In this prelim, the two spatio-temporal agents are shown aboard their spacecraft in a joyful gathering of diverse alien creatures. The artwork is rendered in pure graphite on illustration paper with an image area of 15.5" x 20". Trimmed lower margin. Light creasing and handling wear. Signed.
