James Bama Doc Savage #25 "The Devil's Playground" Paperback Novel Cover Painting Original Art (Bantam, 1968). Original James Bama/Doc Savage covers don't come to market very often -- as evidenced by the fact that this stunner is the first example we've offered in over 15 years! Bama set the look for Doc Savage in the mind of an entire wave of fandom as Bantam reintroduced Doc Savage to a whole new generation, with their 1960-70s reprints of the original 1930s stories. On this fantastic piece, Doc is on the trail of grisly murderers in the woods of northern Michigan. The deep reds of Bama's cover painting really give a sense of danger and dread to Doc's discovery. Rendered in opaque watercolor on illustration board with a large image area of 16" x 24". Signed near Doc's feet. The board is lightly toned and there is minor surface wear; however, the image area is in overall Excellent condition and presents beautifully.
