DescriptionJack Kirby and Mike Royer The Eternals #14 Original Art (Marvel, 1977). Wow! Double wow, actually, as the Hulk faces off against the Eternals (or does he?) in this incredibly powerful cover illustration by the King, Jack Kirby, and one of his best-ever inkers, Mike Royer. Back in the 1950s, Kirby toyed around with the 3-D comics that were then all the rage, but you don't need a pair of special glasses to see Makkari being hurled right off the page here. We'll say it one more time: Wow!!
This dynamic masterpiece, created after Kirby returned to Marvel after an early Bronze Age stint at DC, is in ink and graphite on World Color Bristol board, with an image area of 9.75" x 15". There is some soiling along the borders, and a stain that just barely penetrates the image in the lower right corner, but otherwise, the art is in Excellent condition, with all original logo and masthead stats. Kirby signed the page perfectly, within the UPC box.
