Jack Kirby and Mike Royer Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen #147 Unpublished Alternative Cover Original Art (DC, c. 1972). Ever wondered what a straight-ahead Jack Kirby cover for Jimmy Olsen #147 might have looked like? Here you go, "Fourth World" fans. Neal Adams redrew the cover scene for the final published cover, but this bold alternative version by the King has a pulse-pounding power that's hard to beat. In this issue, Superman visits New Genesis and meets Magnar and Highfather, and then he returns to Earth to help Jimmy and the Newsboy Legion, who are prisoners of the evil Victor Volcanium. The Man of Tomorrow appears alongside his pal Jimmy Olsen in this dynamic two-paneled cover scene. This is a fantastic, seldom-seen piece, early on from Jack "King" Kirby's triumphant Bronze Age return to DC. Mike Royer's inks are bold, with his hallmarked polished lines. This remarkable alternate cover has an image area of 10" x 15". The piece has numerous creases and small margin tears; otherwise, it's in Very Good condition. Signed by Kirby, at the upper left in pencil.
